Clean Green Cambodia is delighted to announce the organisation of the #noplasticinmyhotel conference at Navutu Dreams Resort on the 19th of September. This event is aimed at discussing how to reduce plastic waste and other areas of impact in hotels.
The Cambodian tourism sector and hotels, in particular, are responsible for tonnes of plastic waste. Such waste has environmental, social but also economic consequences for the country. In 2015, the Cambodian Hotel Association estimated that poor sanitation, including poor waste management, was responsible for USD 74 million of foregone annual revenues for the industry. Plastic waste is, therefore, threatening the long-term survival of tourism.
But, hotels can make a difference and decide to LEAD to fight plastic pollution. Doing so can not only benefit the country but also increase their visibility as consumers are increasingly looking for places reducing their plastic waste.
