Bambu Battambang Hotel, Restaurant and Bar was built with sustainability in mind.
~ They use solar power for much of their power
~ They have opted for a salt water pool, which is both better for the guests, but also free from damaging chemical agents, lessening the impact on the environment.
~ Bambu Hotel tries as much as possible to be plastic free.
~ Bottled water in the rooms are provided in refillable glass bottles.
~ They use only bio garbage bags for their waste, all their take away containers and cutlery are non-plastic biodegradable alternatives and their drinking straws are made of reusable stainless steel.
~ In the construction, the hotel used only local labour and wherever possible local materials - for instance all the floor tiles, roof tiles, joinery and most of the furniture were made in Battambang.
~ All the trees, shrubs and flowers in the gardens were sourced locally.
~ All the staff is hired locally.
~ They support the local community, including a number of local schools and charity projects. The owners of Bambu Hotel are associated with a grass roots project in the village of Slarkram about 8km outside the city. They are providing free English classes to children from families who couldn't otherwise afford it.
